Instructional Objective(s): Students will be introduced to PBL project and begin thinking about how this problem affects the lives of adolescences. Essential Question: How does what I eat have an impact on my life?
ACTION
Before-Class Preparation:
Make sure Twiducate accounts are working and still active.
Make sure Wiki is working and still active.
Post the introduction to the KWHL chart on Twiducate
Make copies of the KWHL chart, Rubrics for PBL, Ticket out the Door, and post them on the class Wiki
Set up the netbooks
Have parents to sign Picture Consent forms and Permission to Display Work form

Start the lesson by activating the prior knowledge of the students. The students will (TSW) log on to Twiducate and respond to the following post: “Today we will be analyzing the effects of a healthy lifestyle. Utilizing the KWHL model K( What I Know), W(What I want to Learn), H( How I Learned), and L (What did I Learn) to organize our thinking.” For this first post you will Tweet me and your class everything that you know about how to be healthy. This will take care of the K in the model.
Have Q and A sessions. Students can read each other’s post and make comments or ask questions.
Pass out a hard copy of the KWHL chart and have the students to complete the W portion of the chart.
Introduce PBL project using Wiki (Problem: Adolescences are not making proper food choices thus causing obesity to be a rising problem. The students will research how food choices affect a person health today, tomorrow and in the future. You will find a solution to making healthy choices for a healthy life.
Discuss rubrics and expectations,
Divide students into their groups
Close the lesson by reviewing the information
Give students a Ticket out the Door ( Ticket will read: Do you have any additional questions or concerns regarding your project)

Accommodations and Extensions:
The needs of special education students will be addressed based on the specifics named in their IEP.
Extended time will be provided for special education and Ell students based on their IEP and TPC forms
Students with little to no English will have another ESOL student to interpret and handouts will be converted to native language via Google Translate.
Gifted and Talented: no accommodations needed for this introduction lesson
Hard copies of the materials including Wiki pages, and a transcript of the video will be given out
Visual considerations, language applications, and voice recognition systems will be in place to address all of the needs of the English Language Learner and learning disabled students
Back-u Plan: Video will be saved to the hard drive of desktop computer. PBL project information will also be available to view via Smartboard( No internet connection needed) Hard copies of the PBL project and information from the Wiki will also be available
